If yes, then a career at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) could be for you.

The DESNZ analysis community represents around 13% of the Department's workforce and we are one of the largest analysis functions across government. We are home to a community of 600 analysts, driven by data and evaluation, providing evidence to inform government policy on some of the greatest challenges we face today.

We are delivering our mission to make the UK a clean energy superpower, with clean electricity by 2030 and accelerating the UK’s journey to net zero. Our work is helping ensure clean energy for all, keep bills down and seize the opportunities to lead the world in new green industries, taking back control of our energy with Great British Energy and encouraging greater energy efficiency across the UK. The work of the department has never been more timely or relevant, and by joining us you will be part of making that difference.

Our work is varied, interesting and most importantly it is impactful. Our DESNZ Values are interwoven into everything we do; we are bold, we are collaborative, we are inclusive, and we learn. As a department we are committed to these values to build a culture where everyone can thrive.

The responsibilities for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero are:

  • British jobs and supply chains and a successful Great British Energy: create an active industrial strategy which supports clean energy industries and the transition to net zero, establish Great British Energy

  • Warm Homes Plan: Advance home decarbonisation this parliament to cut people’s bills, decarbonise the buildings sector, and cut fuel poverty

  • A fairer deal for consumers: lowering bills and spreading costs more progressively.

  • Establishing a just and orderly transition away from fossil fuels

  • Leading the fight against climate change and supporting global action: demonstrate success in the path to net zero at home and take a leadership role in the fight against climate change
